I'm researching these and related branches. My early line is as follows:

1. Nickolas Bartsch - b. Mothern, Alsace; d. Elsass, Russia

2. Albert Bartsch - b. &d. Elsass?
m. Ludgarda Pflueger - b. & d. Elsass?

3. Jacob Bartsch - b. 1830, Elsass; d. Salvador, Sask.
m. Margaret Eberts - b. 1839, Elsass; d. Salvador, Sask.

4. John Richter - b. 1869, Alexanderfeld; d. Napoleon, ND
m. Johanna Bartsch - b. 1874, Alexanderfeld; d. Napoleon, ND

5. John Richter - b. 1903, Napoleon, ND
m. Theresa Schmidt - b. 1907, Napoleon

Related lines include Heilman, Krupka and Malsom throughout the Dakotas.

The only information I have on my Black Sea German forebears comes from the (quite excellent and extensive) work of Sr. Cecelia Bartsch of the Urseline Convent in Bruno, Sask. But, as is typical of these private genealogical works of a generation ago, there is absolutely no sourcing.
